BIGTREETECH TMC2209 V1.3 is a high-quality stepper motor driver designed for 3D printers. It is capable of providing up to 2.0A continuous current and 2.8A peak current and has a voltage range of 4.75V to 28V. It is also equipped with StealthChop2 technology for ultra-quiet operation. The driver allows you to work in two modes: step/dir or UART. The flexible microPlyer interpolation unit can perform up to 256 microsteps. BIGTREETECH TMC2209 V1.3 uses the StallGuard motor stall detection test, which allows you to verify a fault in this component. Dynamic CoolStep control will save up to 75% of electrical energy. The driver is easy to install and comes with heatsinks for better cooling. It is also designed to be compatible with a wide range of 3D printer boards, including combinations with other versions of the driver (V1.2 and V1.3).

StallGuard is a sensorless homing feature of the TMC2209 motor driver. It monitors changes in motor current and allows the driver to detect when the motor has stalled, returning the printer to its home position. This function ensures print accuracy and prevents motor damage.

CoolStep is a dynamic control technology that is based on StallGuard values. It is designed to reduce motor power consumption by driving motors to the minimum amount required for the current load condition.

StealthChop is a chopper mode used to reduce motor noise in TMC2209 drivers, improving motor efficiency. It works by reducing the current in the motor when the motor is not in use, resulting in quieter operation and lower power consumption.

SpreadCycle is a motor control technology that is part of the TMC2209. It is used to achieve higher motion dynamics and better motor torque at low noise levels. SpreadCycle consists of two parts: a chopper and a current controller. The chopper converts the motor current into a pulsed current, which is used to control the motor. The current controller allows for fast current control, enabling high motion dynamics. In addition, SpreadCycle can be combined with StallGuard technology for sensorless homing.
